The Penzance Town Deal is broken down into 3 areas of focus:
Transport – How can Penzance have affordable, sustainable transport routes that keeps the whole town connected and gives us better access to our outstanding natural environment?
The projects that are being looked at by the Transport team including supporting an ambitious vision for sustainable transport in Penzance that ranges from prioritizing pedestrians and cyclists through to beautiful public realm.
The Transport team are working closely with other existing projects such as Penzance Healthy Streets, Sustainable Penzance and the High Street Fund progressing ambitions to secure significant investment in an overall sustainable transport network.
Skills & Enterprise – How can we make Penzance the place young people want to stay and create their dream lives and how can we be on the cutting edge of the creative and cultural sector to make Penzance a popular place to live and work? How so we support the resilience and growth of our key or growing sectors and the micro-enterprises that are the backbone of our local economy?
The focus for the skills and enterprise team is supporting the key sector enterprises and employers of Penzance by creating access to development capital that will lead to economic resilience, quality jobs and skill attainment opportunities.
Urban Regeneration – How can we make Penzance more attractive and more accessible for residents, businesses and visitors while making the most of assets that already exist or changing their use to get the most from them and meet local need? How do we keep building on the momentum and success of other regeneration efforts such as Jubilee Pool and St Johns Hall? How should regeneration efforts support our cultural and heritage offer?
The ideas being looked over by the Urban Regeneration team are focused on making the most of assets we already have in Penzance, addressing the problem of a challenged high-street and seeking out the opportunities to secure a thriving town centre that is connected to its waterfront. Town Deal can help the town work with the private sector to bring redundant buildings back into use, tackling the more run down areas and enhancing the great parts.
