Things to do
The Singing Forager
Bringing a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘singing for your supper’, the Singing Forager is a foraging course with a difference. Join Rachel Lambert for a 2-3hr walk, during which you’ll learn songs to help you remember which plants are safe to eat. This bespoke course is suitable for 4+ people and includes tasters and recipe suggestions.

Trengwainton Garden
Experience Trengwainton Garden as it springs back to life after winter. Mid-February and March can be wonderful months to visit, as this is when the garden reopens, and the camellias and magnolias may already be in bloom. With 25 acres to explore, plus areas dedicated to quiet contemplation, it’s an inspiring place to say hello to spring. Find out more here.
Carriage and cream tea
A carriage ride through the Marazion area is a unique way to explore the Cornish countryside and celebrate a special occasion. This experience from Cornwall Swimming Horses takes approximately two hours and can include a stop at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens for a cream tea (seasonal opening dates apply). Contact the provider for more information.
Gwelen
If you’ve ever visited Mount’s Bay, home of St Michael’s Mount, it might surprise you to learn that beneath the waves lies the remains of an ancient forest. To bring this secret landscape to life, local artist Emma Smith has created a site-specific artwork, ‘Gwelen’. To find her wooden ‘seeing sticks’, join the section of the South West Coast Path that connects Marazion and Penzance. This unique installation is accompanied by a podcast, which will introduce you to Emma Smith and her work.
Discover West Penwith
Experience the beauty of West Penwith with a bus journey that takes you from Penzance station to Zennor, Sennen Cove, Land’s End and Porthcurno. It’s the ideal route if you’re keen to check off Geevor Tin Mine and PK Porthcurno (the Telegraph Museum). See the Land’s End bus route (LAND) and more here.
Places to Eat
Cornish meadery experience
For a truly unique dining experience, make your way to one of West Cornwall’s meaderies. A meadery is an informal restaurant with medieval décor (think flags and wooden tables) that serves traditional mead (fruit wine) and fried ‘chicken in the rough’ on wooden platters. There’s the Newlyn Meadery and Trewellard Meadery (Pendeen). Make sure you book your table. Yeghes Da!
Cafe by the coast
The Hoxton Special is the ideal place to warm up after a swim, paddleboarding activity or kitesurfing lesson. Housed in a former lifeguard hut, the cafe is known for its surfer vibes, homemade cakes and lovely coffees. Visit the team’s Instagram page to see their opening hours and what they’re serving for lunch.
