Penzance Cinemas and Theatres

One thing you’ll discover pretty quickly when you visit Penzance cinemas and theatres – the venue is very much the star of the show!

From a chic independent playhouse quite rightly described in our listings as a ‘gem’ to a cosy open-air theatre in the heart of a town park, there are so many memorable ways to get your fix of drama.

And then there’s the majestic Minack Theatre on the wild cliffs near Porthcurno…

Newlyn Film House

This independent cinema is an absolute gem – a stylish little filmhouse with a welcoming atmosphere and all-important, plush seating. The café-bar is open to all and a great place to hang out even if the big screen is not your thing.

Appealing to all tastes, it shows everything from independent films to mainstream blockbusters. You can even take your drink from the bar and sit back in those generously padded seats.

The venue won the South West Excellence Awards “Best Inclusive Building” –
the filmhouse is accessed by a ramp, and lifts give access to all floors; meanwhile, all screens have wheelchair spaces allocated.

This Penzance cinema is, in fact, a hop and a skip away in Newlyn, our close neighbour. But an absolute must-include cinema in this list!
